China's pork production may reach 49.5 million tonnes. If the situation arises, the meat export to China oppotunity would increase to 4,2 Mt in 2022. These imports will remain high because the demand for imported pork has increased. The top five pork suppliers are expected to be: Spain, Brazil, the United States, Denmark and the Netherlands.
In such a possible situation, pork supply (in China) would reach the pre-crisis levels available.
Of the main supplier countries, Spain continues to be, for the second year in a row, the country that exports the most pork meat to China, exceeding total exports in 2019. It is highly likely to continue to play an important role in China's supply in 2022.
World beef production is estimated to increase by some 600,000 tonnes in 2022 to 58.2 million tonnes, as a result of recovering production in Australia and Brazil.
The consumption of this product in China could exceed the 10 million tonnes mark by 2022. This will lead to an increase in its imports, even though their domestic production will also improve. This is great news for companies exporting meat to China.
Poultry (excluding legs) imports are expected to reach 800,000 tonnes, increasing by 2% compared to 2021, as domestic production will decrease, leading to higher prices.
The United States and Brazil are expected to remain the main suppliers of poultry to China in 2022. Brazil mainly exports chicken wings, drumsticks and legs. The United States also exports these products, but chicken feet account for the largest value and volume of US exports.
